The Twente Water Network is a partnership between 14 municipalities in Twente and a regional water authority aimed at tackling water and climate issues. Part of this is a joint groundwater monitoring network that consists of more than 600 groundwater measuring points. Project leader Patrick Spijker explains why Royal Eijkelkamp was chosen to install and manage this monitoring network.

With a contemporary design, a stable pump speed over the entire range, a constant flow rate between 50 ml and 2000 ml, and a battery indicator, this digitally driven pump is greatly improved compared with the previous pump and is compatible with your existing equipment, such as sounding apparatus and flow through cells.
The Twente canals (Twentekanalen) play an essential role in logistics for shipping from and to the ports of Almelo, Hengelo, and Enschede. As transport by water is set to increase in the coming years in this region, the Twente canals need to be widened. Groundwater levels are monitored carefully before, during, and after the works in the project area.
Good surface and groundwater quality means sustainable development of plants, animals, and drinking water. To guarantee this quality, a policy has been formulated in the Water Framework Directive which must be observed by all EU Member States. Jean Hacking, Project Manager Groundwater Monitoring explains how he implements these guidelines and how the MP 1 pump helps.
